Thomas Nixon Ordination: Continuing A Family Legacy
Posted June 23, 2009 by Robert R. Moore
In 1780, Lewellen Moore was born in South Carolina. He was the son of Joseph and Agnes Moore, the first to arrive in the Colonies in the mid 1700's. When Lewellen was five years old he moved with his parents to Vann's Creek in Elbert County, Georgia. As a young man he married Priscilla Thornton and they attended church across the Savannah River at the Vann's Creek Baptist Church. And on March 13, 1813 Lewellen "applied for liberty to exercise the gift we hope God has given him, and liberty was given him to exercise in the boundary of the church."
In every generation since, there has been at least one ordained minister on our family line. On Sunday, June 21st, 2009, nearly two centuries later, Thomas Joel Nixon, the 4th Great Grandchild of Lewellen Moore, was ordained by his Great Uncle Bob D. Moore and the Elders at Family Christian Church in Costa Mesa, California. Tommy Nixon represents the 7th generation of ordained ministers, continuing the legacy of our rich family heritage.
Tommy and his wife Rachel live in Fullerton and have two daughters, Ryan and Maya, and attend Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa, California. Tommy is the Founder and Executive Director of Solidarity in Placentia, California. Solidarity is a community organization committed to living out the teachings of Christ.

New Video Gallery Section
Posted October 28, 2008 by Robert R. Moore
One of the results of our research is the discovery of several 8mm home movies made in the late 1950's by Ola Mae Moore-White, the daughter of Joel and Addie Moore. We're currently in the process of transferring these old movies into a more current digital form so that we can share them with the entire extended family and preserve them for future generations.
So, we've added a new Video Gallery in the Our Family History section of the Moore Heritage website and added the first of many future movie clips. There are three movie clips from 1959 with several members of the Joel Marvin Moore family. Enjoy.

Moore Heritage Website Increases In Popularity
Posted August 21, 2008 by Robert R. Moore
With visitors ranging from family members to genealogists and researchers, the Moore Heritage website has attracted an average of about 500 visitors a month since its initial launch in 2005. However, since the launch of version 2.0 four weeks ago, the site has reached just over 8,800 visitors.
In addition to our growing popularity, and more importantly, we've received rave reviews from members of the Moore and Beauchamp families. Many have taken the time to explore our family history and heritage via the photo galleries, historical timeline, and other aspects of the site. And a good number of our family have signed up for the upcoming newsletter which should be completed by this fall.
If you haven't already - make sure to sign up for the quarterly newsletter - and explore our rich history and heritage. And check back every few weeks for more articles and latest news.

Beauchamp Reunion 2008
Posted August 12, 2008 by Robert R. Moore
The biennial Beauchamp Reunion was held this year at the Arbor Inn & Suites in Lubbock, Texas. Family members from all parts of the country came to reunite with loved one's once again.
In addition to the regular attendees, there were a handful of relatives who hadn't attended in several years, and in some cases decades. Lee "Pokey" Beauchamp, the son of John Beauchamp, was in attendance with his wife and nephew. They drove in from Grand Junction, Colorado and reunited with their cousins who they hadn't seen for nearly six decades. Gwendolyn Beauchamp-Phillips, the daughter of Olan Beauchamp, came with members of her family from Rankin, Texas, to reconnect with her cousins as well.
Friday and Saturday was filled with visiting, sharing photos, and catching up with family. On Sunday morning, a short Church Service was held with Dan Dunn and Alan Dunn, grandsons of Addie Beauchamp, leading the family in traditional hymns. Bob Moore, son of Addie Beauchamp, gave a short sermon on the power of prayer and forgiveness.
Missing from this year's reunion was B.A. Beauchamp who passed away just a few weeks before the reunion. During the service, members of the Beauchamp family shared their thoughts about B.A., the love he had for his family, and the joy the Beauchamp reunions brought him.
An enormous amount of thanks to Karen Kirkpatrick for the time and effort put into making every aspect of the Beauchamp Reunion enjoyable.

Brand New Moore Heritage Website
Posted July 20, 2008 by Robert R. Moore
The new version of the Moore Heritage website is now online, replacing the previous version which was launched shortly after the start of the project back in early 2005. The new version includes updated information from the previous version, an expanded Photo Gallery, and a new Latest News section. Due to the ever-expanding project, we've added three new sections that represent the three main pillars of the project: Research, Archive, and Media.
In addition, there are three online forms which allow users of the website to interact with us. This includes a new Contact Us form to make it easier to reach us, a new Share Your Story form that allows family members to participate by sharing a family story, and then a Newsletter Signup form, letting you signup for the new quarterly family newsletter. And finally, there's a new sixty-second slide-show that profiles five members of the Moore and Beauchamp families.
It's pretty amazing, but on average, this website receives over 500 visitors a month, mostly researchers and genealogists outside our immediate family. But more importantly, there are nearly 300 family members that we need to keep informed. This project takes the participation from everyone in the family, and this website and the quarterly newsletter will help keep everyone on the same page.
